The Great Escape
Dear Lucy and all the staff at Bottlegreen, The Galilean Committee would really like to say a huge thank you for all your support this year with TGE07 (The Great Escape 2007). I wish you could have witnessed it first hand as the sun set on a trio of beautiful fields in a completely secluded valley in the depths of Sussex and just under 1,000 young festival goers sipped on an array of delicious Bottlegreen Cocktails. Our bar staff created some deliciously refresshing cocktails using the Presses, on possibly the only hot day of this summer. Of the best cocktails were Southern Comfort and “Aromatic Sweet Lime Presse”; Gin and “Ginger and Lemongrass Presse” and also vodka and “Elderflower”.
Thanks to the generous sponorship/donations from companies such as Bottlegreen more money can be raised for our chosen charity, and this year we were delighted to have made just under £10,000 for Spinal Research. Spinal Research has been a charity that is very close to our hearts ever since a very close friend of The Galileans suffered a sever accident which resulted in him being paralysed. This money will make a huge difference to many people’s lives as scientists get nearer and nearer to finding ways of getting people like George to walk again.
The festival itself is designed for up and coming artists (signed and unsigned) and the quality of the event has attracted some extremely promising up and coming bands with the much talked about “Example” headlining this years festival: his debut album ‘What we made’ comes out this week).
The Galileans is the group behind the event who put up the money and time to organise it. We are a collection of 14 ambitious 20 somethings, in a range of professions - from property to acting and from politics to architecture). We are trying to use our collective time, resources and energy to make things happen in a way that individually we could not. The Galileans is a non profit-making organisation that relies on the enthusiasm and passion that its 14 members have for making a difference.
Thank you again to Bottlegreen for you support.
Kind regards,
From all the Galileans
